It’s an online workspace where you can customize everything to suit your needs. So how can you start using it to organize your life?

Finding Inspiration

Let’s break down how Aashna Sanghani created her school organization template as an example. To find other templates, you can explore Notion’s marketplace!

1. Split Your Page

As you can see, she split the page by creating two columns, which you can find by clicking the add button, scrolling until you reach the “Advanced blocks” section, and then choosing the number of columns. Once it’s added, you can adjust where you want the split to be.

2. To-Do List

The “To-do’s” section of Aashna’s template showcases a table you can access by clicking the add button and scrolling until you reach the “Databases” section. This table can change to show either a table format or the board format, which is more of a vertical list.

The image shows two different views of a to-do list in Notion - a table view and a board view. The table view displays tasks in a spreadsheet format with columns, while the board view organizes the same tasks into vertical lists grouped by status (To do, In progress, etc.).

Once created, you can add different types of information (in the picture to the right), like the status tags as seen in the template.

3. Embedding Things into Notion

In her template, the clock in the top left corner is an embedded item. You can embed many different types of items into Notion, like Spotify songs and YouTube videos. For example, to embed a Spotify song, you simply copy the embed code for a song in Spotify, and paste it into the embed input field found in the “Embeds” section.
