One of the best parts about voting **today** (of course other than casting your ballot for the future president), will be the sticker you get to proudly wear on your shirt afterwards. Let’s take a look at some of the voter stickers that will be handed out in the states! And in the spirit of persuasive design, think about how each of these graphics can influence an individual’s perception of voting.
In many states, you’ll see this standard “I Voted” oval-shaped sticker:
The words are boldly in blue and show the iconic American flag.
In some other states, you’ll see submissions created by students:
For this brightly-colored, nature-inspired sticker a 10-year old student, won first place in a voting sticker design contest for Vermont, the "Green Mountain State."
For this bizarre wolf sticker, a 12-year old student from Michigan, according to the New York Times, “won the most votes in a contest for Michigan’s next “I Voted” sticker. She drew the werewolf in about an hour using a pencil case’s worth of felt-tip pens. The muscular werewolf, she said, was a representation of the strength that each American can exercise by voting.”
Other states will try to incorporate symbols and imagery from their own state to include in the sticker!
For example, when I participated in early voting in Georgia, I received this sticker with Georgia's symbolic peach.
